Our Road Trip to See the Superbloom

Mike and I wanted to see a desert bloom ever since we met in 2005. Our first road trip together was to Mojave desert to see the cacti bloom, but we didn’t really see anything spectacular then. So when we woke up to the news of the Superbloom a couple of weeks ago we got excited!

Superblooms in Death Valley National Park happen only once in ten years as that’s when the amount of winter rains allow for spectacular blooming of wild flowers. Unfortunately, we were not able to take Playa with us as National Parks have strict dog restrictions so we left her with a good friend (thank you Valya!)

Traveling with a toddler is not easy as the schedule is built around him and most of the effort goes into having the child happy. But in between the naps and the temper tantrums we managed to have a good time and even get a few hikes in.

Here are some of the favorites. These are all iPhone pictures as we were too lazy to carry around a toddler and a real camera :)
