Meet Mike and Nat

hen we are not at our desks you can find us hiking, camping, or just relaxing in the yard. Doggy-friendly trails are our favorite.

Our favorite way to relax, reconnect with our voice, and recharge our creativity is to get away from civilization. We love to spend a few days camping somewhere by a river. Trees make us sappy.

Our love for adventure has brought us to many places and created myriads of amazing memories. Freezing our butts off on an overnight safari in an Indian desert. Hiking through tobacco fields in Cuba. Zip lining in Costa Rica. Desperately searching for food on a New Year’s Eve in Vietnam… and driving through lavender fields in France.

Traveling brings us new perspectives and expands our lives. We have to admit that we skip out on most museums. We’d much rather people watch at an outdoor cafe or travel through the countryside to some remote village.

Family has always been very important for both of us. Nat always misses hers because they are far away in Russia. Mike has not always been close with his. This is why we are so moved by witnessing love and deep emotions among the families we photograph.

Let’s Get Together

“Mike is a chronic passion finder. In the years I’ve known him he’s been all into: snowboarding, cars, grilling, headphones, dogs, beer, self-development, crystals, and now books. Thankfully not all at once.” – Nat

What I love

Music. I’ll pretty much listen to anything (good :)

Beer. There’s always at least 10 kinds in our fridge.

Playa. My mornings don’t start until I cuddle with her.

“I believe that everyone has a story and if I don’t understand someone it’s only because I haven’t gotten to know them yet.”

“Nat loves crafty DIY projects. She always seems to think “let’s not buy it, we can just build it ourselves”. After the “quick” built-in bookshelves in our living room, those words send shivers down my spine.” – Mike

What I love

Baking is my idea of meditation.

Walks. I’d rather walk than drive.

Being barefoot.

“My insatiable travel bug brought us to many beautiful faraway places like Vietnam and Cambodia. And that miserable camping trip to the heart of Colombia’s jungle where we all got sick from the water was also my idea.”

e believe that life is fulfilling to the extent that each of us has the courage to live our truth. We are passionate about living in a meaningful way rather than the way you’re “supposed to”.

Choco Studio was started because of a deep desire to be true to ourselves rather than to follow tradition. Truth be told, we live life in our pajama pants (although we promise to dress up for your wedding).

“Be who you are and say what you feel because people who mind don’t matter and people who matter don’t mind.”

Dr. Seuss

“A huge factor in our decision is that Mike and Nat are a pair and with a large wedding, we wanted to make sure all angles were captured. After meeting with Mike and Nat, we hired them on the spot. ”

Olivia F, Villa Ragusa in Campbell, Ca

“Mike and Nat have a synergy that allows them to capture a full complement of beautiful formal and candid photos. We would definitely use them again for any family photos, events, etc.”

Shannon H, Nella Terra Cellars in Sunol, Ca

“Without interrupting the flow of events or drawing attention to themselves, they captured every special moment and more. Mike and Natasha are incredible and we’ll always be Choco Studio fans!”
